There are many tactics for quiet firing, and some of them would be pushing off promotions or isolating the employee. This is a very non-confrontational and un-advisable way of firing an underperforming employee.

The workplace has a non-ideal work conditions for the employee that has been underperforming for quite a while. These tactics push off promotions and isolate employees.
In short, quiet firing can be called a failure on the organization’s part, making the employee leave. It happens when the employer cannot provide necessary career development opportunities, skills, and training to an employee who has been underperforming. If this is how someone is leaving an organization, then they can call it quiet firing.
However, the quiet firing practice is totally different and opposite to what quiet quitting means. They start making the work environment unbearable for the teammate until they are obligated to leave the workplace themselves. This is when they switch to another company.

Stalled Promotion & Advancement
When an employer is quiet firing an employee, they often overlook the employee when giving out different opportunities to teammates. They do not offer any environment or opportunity for that employee to advance in their career.
If the workplace is healthy, then the leader will give guidelines regarding things employees should accomplish if they want to move up the ladder. However, that is not the case for an employee who is being quite fired. While they see their peers move up through the ranks, they still stay in the same positions and work in the same role.
Compensation is one of many tools used by managers, and the team leads to quit firing their employees. They often withhold raise or deny the employee’s request to raise their salary. Managers or employers often offer these employees a little raise than what the employee has requested.
Sometimes the employer offers the possibility of more raise in the future. However, the future does not come to pass. This type of refusal is often a tactic to make the employees look for a job in other organizations and leave.
Quieting firers often assign the worst task to their employees to make their work experience mundane and miserable. It seems like almost all the jobs have some unpleasant element that the employee does not like. Quiet Firers usually stop many projects and opportunities for the employees to work on. Halting projects and new tasks is one of the ways of quiet firing. Employers, in this situation, feel that the employees lack anything more to offer, and hence they stop spending more time on them or putting them through positive challenges or work. While other employees get the opportunity to work on something new, the targeted employees for quiet firing are doing the same thing over and over again.
Zero Feedback From The Managers
Employers often skip the employees when it comes to one-on-one performance reviews or withhold appreciation. This is one of the alarming sounds of quiet firing. They often give vague instructions without outlining anything. Quiet firers also do not provide any constructive criticism to the employees when asked.
Lack Of Support Or Resources
Employers often also do not provide the necessary resources to the employees. This is also one of the most alarming signs of quiet firing. It could be any tool or new hiring in their teams. This non-cooperation continues even when the employees constantly ask for the resources to perform better at work, but they are denied or ignored.

Quiet firing can cause low employee morale, making the targeted employee feel dissatisfied and demotivated. In the crossfire, the co-workers of these employees also suffer. Quiet firing can also affect teamwork within the organization. Many capable employees are also wasted because of quiet firing. Low employee retention is also not good for a company’s overall performance throughout a financial year. So, that was a brief idea of what quiet firing is and what are the signs of it.
