Web Host

Your website is a testimony to your hard work, and you’re ready to level up. Now is the time to get a reliable host that will give you the benefits you need to help your site flourish.

The problem is, which host can you trust with your site? How can you be sure you have the right one?

We’ve heard you, and we have come up with a way to help you with choosing a web host. Read on to find out what you should look for to suit your hosting needs.

Start by Choosing a Web Host for Your Needs :

There are multiple types of web hosting services, and you should be aware of each one before you dive in.

First off, there’s shared hosting. Like the name suggests, several customers (and by several, we mean up to hundreds or even thousands) share the same server together.

This is great for startups, who tend to only need the minimum to run and maintain their site.

A virtual private server, or VPS, is a step up from shared hosting.

It’s like a deluxe version of shared hosting: There are still multiple sites attached to this server, but they are each divided into virtual machines that act as independent dedicated servers.

In other words, the sites (which, we’ll add, are fewer in number than in shared hosting setups) are collectively under one server, but they receive their own virtual server that fits their needs.

Finally, there is dedicated server hosting. This is the luxury car of the server world and comes with all the bells and whistles.

This server tailors to only one site: yours. Dedicated servers give you complete control over the site, so you can customize all the security systems, operating systems, and more.

What’s more, the hosting provider is there for you 24/7, so if you ever needed assistance they would be available to you no matter the hour.

Don’t Get Stuck on Price :

We all try hard to buy low and sell high (especially when you’re a startup with a limited budget) but keep in mind that the less you pay for, the less you get.

Shared hosting services are by far the cheapest, but they offer only the bare minimum, and with so many other sites attached to the same server, you can expect it to be a pretty low-class experience.

By contrast, a dedicated server is the cream of the crop when it comes to servers, but expect half of your paycheck to go towards paying for it each month (okay, that’s a little exaggerated, but you get the point).

What’s Their Uptime?

This is a pretty big deal, and should probably be at the forefront of all the questions you ask your potential host.

The uptime percentage (sometimes called the uptime score) shows how reliable a host’s servers are at staying up. When a server is up, your site is up – and you want that to stay as consistent as possible.

When a server has crashed or is offline for any other reason, this is called “downtime”.

You’ll want a host that experiences as little downtime as possible. The more downtime you have, the more you risk losing potential customers – and money.

Focus on Security :

This is obviously a big deal, and as with most of what we’ve talked about so far, the simple answer is you get what you pay for.

If you hop onto a shared server, you’re going to be one of hundreds or even thousands of sites that the host manages. There will be security, but it will be at a minimum simply because there are so many sites to maintain.

VPS hosts are more generous since they have fewer sites to look after. They’ll have more security than shared servers.

Then, of course, there are dedicated servers, which offer optimum security features to your liking.

Of course, how good security is can vary outside of the type of server you use. Keep this in mind as you shop around.

Load Time, Anyone?

In this day and age, people have less patience than ever before. Your site has to fit their demands to win them over.

Make sure that the server you go to has optimal load times. There are very few things that can hurt your rankings and sales more than a site that takes too long to load.

It really is that simple.
