As professionals, we often wonder why some days are there; we cannot give our 100%. It is normal and okay for you to feel that way, not every day can be as efficient as the last one. We’re not machines!

So, here are the top 5 tips to help you improve work efficiency. It also enables you to fight those spells of demotivation:

1. Kickstart Your Day the Right Way!

It’s amazing how what we do during the first hours of the morning affects the entire day. If you like to wake up and go through your social media to see what’s popping up before you start your day, you must stop unless you are Mark Zuckerberg.

Facing your morning with positive energy guarantees you will be enthused to face whatever tasks you have waiting for you during the day. And that is the key to starting your day.

So, to change your routine, try this instead. Firstly, hydrate yourself after you wake up – drink a glass of room-temperature water. Secondly, when you wake up, spend at least 10 minutes looking at the reflection in the mirror and saying positive affirmations.

Speaking positively about yourself and the day ahead helps you create a cognitive memory.

Make an excellent breakfast in the OPPEIN kitchen and enjoy it. When you face a hard situation during the day, you are energized to face the situation instead of fleeing from it. Skip coffee first thing in the morning, as it may have a dehydrating effect without your knowledge!

Therefore, this is how your morning routine will look (Ideally):

  • Wake up early
  • Do positive affirmations
  • Exercise
  • Take breakfast
  • Check your work Email for any Update

2. Minimize Distractions

Minimize Distractions

You know what stops you from achieving maximum efficiency in your daily tasks. If you are a social media addict and can’t stay away from your phone during working hours, log out of all your social media accounts (unless they are work-related.)

Put your phone away in the drawer. It’ll give you ample time to focus on the tasks ahead.

It would also help if you were offline during your working hours. That way, you do not have to constantly worry about your phone ringing. If you want to avoid these drastic measures, you can change your notification tone when you start working.

Naturally, your brain is not accustomed to the new tone, which will not register even if you hear it.

If you like to chime into random conversations in the office while you work, noise-canceling headphones will do the trick. And you can be assured that no one will distract you unless it’s work-related.

3. Have Personal Brainstorming Sessions

All the big fish in the market know how essential it is to have some time to think. In an allocated time frame, you get undisturbed to think of new ideas and products that will revolutionize the industry.

You can start by simply having time to analyze your job and tasks and how you can improve. As you progress, it’ll give you time to think of new ideas you can work on as personal projects, and you can even start a side business.

Essentially, you think time does not have to be about work; you can use it to improve yourself in your areas of weakness. Understand your personal goals, what you have achieved, and how you can accomplish more goals faster and easier, but legally.

Using this time to read a book is also fruitful. You get to learn more for both personal and professional purposes. Such routines help you push beyond your boundaries, both mentally and accomplishment-wise.

4. Design a Relaxing Work Environment

Design A Relaxing Work Environment

Whether working remotely or on-site, you can create a relaxing work environment that motivates you to stay efficient. Keep your workspace tidy if you feel on top of your game when there’s tidiness around.

Perhaps inspirational quotes help you get work done – have your favorite quotes near your workspace. This way, you will be able to feel energetic while you’re working!

For example, I have an air-purifying house plant on my desk that helps me feel good about my workplace.

Developing a healthy balance between personal and professional life comes with a relaxing work environment that helps you accomplish your tasks. This is also the best way to improve your focus while you’re working – meaning a boost in your productivity.

5. Prepare a Healthy Mindset

Believe it or not, you can control your mindset. When you start your day right, you are halfway there – so follow tip 1 for the best results. When you step into your workspace, your mind should have a mental to-do list of the tasks that are to be done.

Next, once your system is up and running, you can get straight into the tasks as per their priority. On the contrary, if you start your day with a negative mindset, “Oh, another day at work,” or “Ugh, when’s the weekend!” (I know there are variations you say aloud!) – bunk them for a week and see the difference!

Try this for a week and let me know about your experience!

The Bottom Line

That was all about the different ways you can improve work efficiency without sacrificing your work-life balance!

Achieving any level of proficiency means that you’ll have to sacrifice something in return – bad habits, in this case. Nonetheless, when you decide you are ready to start, go easy on yourself.

Start slow, then push your boundaries as you progress. Good Luck!
