India A $4 Trillion Economy? Adani To Fadnavis Hail, But No Official Word
by Abdul Aziz Mondal Finance 20 November 2023
Billionaire Gautam Adani, along with two Union Ministers and the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, were among the others who hailed India for crossing the USD 4 trillion mark. However, there was no official confirmation if the country has at all achieved such a landmark.
The National Statistical Office and the financial ministry are yet to comment on the social media about the GDP of India to cross USD 4 trillion, which went viral.
Highly placed sources commented that the viral news was not correct and that India is still lagging behind in reaching such a landmark.
The screengrab from the GDP live tracking of all the countries was unverified and was shared by hundreds of people in the country, including some of the senior leaders of the BJP.
It is pretty tough to keep a live track of the numbers of GDP for each of the countries as the number of multiple sectors of the economy is there with a lag.
“Congratulations, India. Another two years to go before India becomes the 3rd largest Nation in terms of Global GDP by overtaking Japan at $4.4 trillion and Germany at $4.3 trillion. The Tricolour surge continues! Jai Hind,” said Gautam Adani in his post on X.
Many of the political leaders, which included the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, also hailed the achievement.
“India’s moment of global glory as our GDP crosses $4 Trillion. The rise of #NewIndia under PM @narendramodi ji’s leadership is truly unparalleled,” said Gajendra Sinh Sekhawat, the Jai Shakti Minister, in his post on X. Fadnavis had also posted, saying, “This is what dynamic, visionary leadership looks like! That’s what our #NewIndia progressing beautifully looks like! Congratulations to my fellow Indians as our Nation crosses the $ 4 trillion GDP milestone! More power to you, more respect to you Hon PM @narendramodi ji!”
